We serve 16 counties in Southeast Nebraska. They are: Polk, York, Fillmore, Thayer, Butler, Seward, Saline, Jefferson, Saunders, Lancaster, Gage, Otoe, Johnson, Pawnee, Nemaha and Richardson. Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of joining a group of Lincoln Public Schools Multicultural Liaisons for an evening of reflection and connection.

LPS has been an integral partner in our hunger-alleviation work. Efforts like the BackPack Program and School Food Markets would not be possible without the grit and compassion of so many teachers, education professionals and staff.

With 1 in 5 children in Southeast Nebraska experiencing food insecurity, it is more important than ever to do all we can to support the well-being of our students and their families.

Thank you to this cohort for their willingness to engage in powerful, vulnerable conversations about the impact of food access in our community. And thank you to our friends at Talent Plus for sharing your space with us!

Two of our fabulous Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin'-By World Facilitators, Wendi and Tiffini, shared a presentation at the 2026 Together We Thrive Conference!

As part of the 2026 National Conference Addressing Poverty, this dynamic mother-daughter duo shared wisdom from their journey through Getting Ahead and beyond.

With a combination of family storytelling and hard-won knowledge, Tiffini and Wendi wove their audience through a tale of resilience in the face of ever-changing circumstances. While their signature humor had folks laughing along, it's clear that their bond has been deepened through their shared efforts to make their future stories their current realities.

Food Bank Community Resource Manager Georgann also presented at the conference, and we couldn't be prouder to have them all representing this initiative.

Late last week, we were thrilled to take the Bridging Our Community board for a tour of our facility!

BOC is one of our incredible agency partners, and they provide vital food access assistance to folks well beyond their David City home base.

Through their food pantry and distributions, BOC distributed nearly 172,000 pounds of food this past fiscal year. Serving nearly 600 households per month, this team (made up entirely of volunteers) is responsible for getting that impressive number of pounds out into the communities that need it most.

On top of all that, board president and pantry coordinator Janae McMahon and her team volunteer at the Food Bank's David City mobile distribution. Janae also serves on our Agency Advisory Council, a small group representing our 70 agency partners that is imperative to fostering closer relationships with our partner organizations.

It was a blast to show them around and spend the day together, and we couldn't be more grateful for everything they do🧡

Last weekend, we got to celebrate the graduates of the Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin'-By World Summer 2026 workshop!🎓🎉

Graduates received their diplomas and reflected on all the work done over the past 13 weeks.

The room buzzed with warmth and connection as graduates shared their future stories, friends and family bonded over vision boards and Food Bank staff and facilitators offered congratulations.

Getting Ahead is no small task. The bravery and dedication of each one of these graduates inspires us all🧡

Our friends from the Kiwanis Club of Seward hosted an incredible Empty Bowls Luncheon this past Tuesday!

Funds raised from this delicious event will help support the BackPack Program, ensuring that 80 students in Seward County Schools go home each Friday with nutritious food to carry them through the weekend.

Consistent access to healthy food is crucial to success in the classroom and beyond. Our team was delighted to attend and share in the power of compassion, collaboration and a well-made soup or two 🥣

There was no shortage of stellar volunteer help at the Food Bank in September!

Among last month's superstar groups were friends from Hampton Enterprises, Inc. - Properties & Construction, State Farm, Union Bank & Trust, DA Davidson, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, LINE Partners and Sysco🧡

This work is only possible because of the incredible volunteers and organizations that spend their time with us. Thank you for nourishing Southeast Nebraska!

We're so grateful to our friends at Horizon Bank for sponsoring our most recent mobile food distribution in Waverly!

Thanks to both their financial gift and their volunteer service on the day, almost 200 households received direct food assistance. This support comes in addition to their monthly volunteer efforts!

The impact of their generosity in funds and time cannot be overstated, and we're thankful to serve a community full of partnerships that share our mission🧡
