🌲🐞 Class Spotlight: Beetles Save Needles! This Saturday, March 21st at 1pm 🐞🌲

Join us for an inspiring and eye-opening class with Dr. Richard McDonald (aka “Dr. McBug”), a leading entomologist and pioneer in biological pest control!

When invasive pests threaten entire ecosystems, Dr. McDonald turns to nature for the solution. His groundbreaking work uses the tiny but powerful Laricobius nigrinus beetle to combat the destructive hemlock woolly adelgid—helping protect and restore beloved hemlock forests.
✨ What you’ll learn:
• How invasive species impact forest health
• The science behind biological pest control
• Why these “ninja beetles” are key to saving hemlock trees
• Real-world success stories from the field

🌿 From problem to solution:
Infested needles can mean death for a hemlock—but with less than 30% infestation, recovery is possible. Through careful collection and release of beneficial beetles, Dr. McDonald has helped forests bounce back stronger than ever.

Don’t miss this fascinating deep dive into ecology, restoration, and the power of working with nature.
