Registration is open for our benefit golf tournament on October 3rd at Cedar Rock Golf & Country Club. You can print the brochure and fill out with players, contact person, then send a check with it to the Caldwell House or you can go to the link below to register and pay online. There will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction items as well. Proceeds go to benefit the Caldwell House and our mission of providing a safe and stable environment for men to continue their recovery journey. We’re thrilled to announce the hiring of Ben Schmidlin as the new Director’s Assistant at Caldwell House!

Ben has worked in several different spaces assisting and supporting individuals in recovery, bringing both experience and a genuine passion for helping others rebuild their lives. His heart for service and dedication to recovery make him a valuable addition to our team.

Welcome to the Caldwell House family, Ben!

My name is Ben Schmidlin, and I am thrilled to join the team at the Caldwell House.
As someone who was raised in Caldwell County, I am passionate about our county having resources for recovery.

I began my career in 2021 at Brunswick Christian Recovery Center as the Kitchen Manager and quickly transitioned into the role of executive assistant to the CEO. Over the years, I have worked in numerous positions supporting both adolescents and adults in recovery. I most recently served as the Assistant Manager at New Beginnings of Hickory where I worked with leadership to ensure the daily operations of the program. I hope to bring my knowledge and experience from my past roles to the Caldwell House.

📢 Now Hiring: Director’s Assistant – Caldwell House

Caldwell House is currently seeking a dedicated and dependable Director’s Assistant to join our team. This is a second shift position with an annual salary range of $40,000–$45,000.

We are looking for someone who is organized, responsible, and passionate about helping others. Preference will be given to applicants who have at least two years of recovery and are actively engaged in a 12-step program. Peer support specialists are encouraged to apply.

This role involves supporting the Executive Director, helping manage day-to-day facility operations, maintaining records, assisting residents, coordinating transportation and supplies, and helping ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

Tonight at the Caldwell House we fired up the grill and enjoyed some amazing ribeye steaks, all thanks to the generous donation from JBS. Meals like this mean more than just good food, they mean fellowship, encouragement, and a reminder to the men here that they are supported by a community that truly cares.

We are incredibly grateful for partnerships like this and for every person, business, and organization that pours into the Caldwell House. Without the help of our community and those who faithfully give and support, we wouldn’t be able to continue the life-changing work that happens here each and every day.

Thank you to JBS and to everyone who stands beside us. Because of you, we’re able to keep showing up, serving others, and building hope, one meal, one conversation, and one life at a time. 🥩🔥🥩🔥🥩🔥

Today at Caldwell House, we put up Kevin’s photo along with his “In Loving Memory” plaque, a small but meaningful way to honor a man who left a big impact on all of us.

This is the Kevin we’ll always remember… smiling, laughing, cutting up, and bringing joy into every room he walked into. He had a way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and hopeful, even on their hardest days.

Kevin wasn’t just part of Caldwell House, he was part of the heart of it. The time, love, and effort he poured into helping others find hope and a new way of life will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on in every life he touched and every man who continues the journey because of the seeds he planted.

We’ll carry his memory with us daily, in the laughter, in the fellowship, and in the work we continue to do.

Forever in our hearts. 💜

With heavy hearts, we want to share the details for the memorial service of our dear friend and brother, Kevin Norris.

Kevin’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 1:00 PM at Philadelphia Lutheran Church, located at 52 Pinewood Rd, Granite Falls, NC 28630.

Everyone is invited to attend as we come together to celebrate Kevin’s life, legacy, and the love he poured into so many people. He meant so much to all of us, and this will be a time to remember, reflect, and support one another.

Please continue to keep Kevin’s family, friends, and our Caldwell House community in your thoughts and prayers.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our Assistant Director, Kevin Norris, who went home yesterday.

Kevin was a truly remarkable man who spent the last 20 years pouring hope, compassion, and support into the lives of men struggling with substance use. His heart for recovery and his unwavering commitment to helping others changed countless lives. There are likely thousands of people who have been impacted by Kevin, men he mentored, encouraged, and helped guide onto a better path.

To many of the men who came through our doors, Kevin was more than a mentor. He was a steady voice in difficult moments, a source of wisdom, and someone who genuinely believed in people when they struggled to believe in themselves.

His passing is a tremendous loss to the recovery community and to all of us here at Caldwell House. Kevin leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and lives forever changed because he chose to care.

We ask that you please keep Kevin’s family, the men in the house, and everyone who knew and loved him in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Kevin. Your impact will live on in every life you helped change.
