On October 2, we welcomed our Rotary District 7670 District Governor, Paige Scott! She spoke on the importance of creating lasting impact in our lives through service.

We were honored to have Paige present The Paul Harris Fellow recognition to two Rotarians.

This is one of Rotary International's highest honors, awarded to individuals who contribute or have a cumulative total of $1,000 or more contributed in their name to the Rotary Foundation.

The fellowship was established in 1957 and named after Rotary's founder, Paul Harris. It honors people who display a strong commitment to community service and international understanding.

Join us in congratulating Jackie Heim (Paul Harris Fellow Award plus three) and JD Abee (Paul Harris Fellow Award plus two)!

Join us on Tuesday, October 6 from 6:00-9:00 pm for National Night Out in Downtown Lenoir.

This is a FREE community event with free food, live music, a police car show, meet and greets with local law enforcement, and more!

Look for the Women in Rotary tent! We will be participating in the Red Sand Project, which is an artwork installation created by the community through pouring red sand into pavement cracks.

The grains of red sand represent the millions of men, women, and children who often fall through the cracks and are exploited daily.

This creates opportunities for people to question, connect, and take action against human trafficking.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!

We hope you’ll join us Friday, September 25, to connect with fellow Rotarians as we learn more about this topic.

That monarch visiting your September flowers may be preparing for one of nature’s most extraordinary journeys.

In much of the United States and southern Canada, many late-summer monarchs are part of the migratory generation. Rather than immediately reproducing, they focus heavily on feeding. Nectar helps them build energy reserves for their southward migration and, for many eastern monarchs, months spent overwintering in central Mexico.

That makes late-season flowers especially valuable. If your garden is still blooming, consider delaying some fall cleanup and leaving nectar-rich flowers available until they naturally fade.

A patch of asters, goldenrod, or other locally appropriate fall blooms may become a much-needed refueling stop for monarchs passing through.

Sometimes helping wildlife is as simple as leaving the flowers a little longer.
