Notice how it’s never the Republican-run cities in the “Bible Belt” actually treating people the way Jesus would want us to…
This time, it’s Seattle who found a new way to help people who are homeless ❤️
They built a village of tiny houses! Each house is about 8 feet by 12 feet.
That's about the size of a small bedroom.
The houses have electricity and heat. There is also a central building with bathrooms and showers.
Residents pay $90 a month to cover the cost of utilities like sewage and electric — less than one-tenth the price of a normal apartment!
The goal is to help people get back on their feet.
Many residents have jobs and use the tiny house to save money. They stay for a few months while they look for a permanent home.
The houses cost about $2,200 each to build.
Donations paid for the materials and volunteers built them. The Low Income Housing Institute runs the village and provides support services.
It's a simple idea that gives people privacy, warmth, and a sense of dignity. One resident said it's "a lot less stressful" because he can think about the future instead of worrying about where he will sleep each night 🥰
