In 2025, 38.1% of working-age Americans with disabilities were employed, compared with 74.8% of people without disabilities. And among people actively participating in the labor force, people with disabilities experienced more than twice the unemployment rate, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

These numbers should make us ask what is standing between people who do want to work and the opportunities available to them.
- Are job descriptions unnecessarily restrictive?
- Are application systems accessible?
- Are hiring managers making assumptions before an interview begins?
- Are workplaces willing to consider accommodations or different ways of doing a job?
- Are employers recruiting in places where people with disabilities will actually see the opportunity?

When we promote disability inclusion in the workplace, it isn't because we believe in charity. It's about making sure talent isn't being overlooked and that capable and qualified people have access to work that amplifies their skills and talents.
