🌽 HARVEST SEASON IS HERE, BOONE COUNTY! 🚜

It’s that time of year when our farmers are working long hours and our country roads get a little more… John Deere. 💚

As you travel throughout Boone County, please keep an eye out for tractors, combines, and other slow moving farm equipment.

🚜 Slow down and be patient. That tractor isn’t trying to ruin your day. It’s trying to feed you.

🌽 Don’t pass unless it’s safe and legal. Saving 45 seconds isn’t worth causing a crash.

👀 Watch for wide turns. Farm equipment may need more room than you expect.

📵 Put the phone down. TikTok will still be there when you get home. The combine in front of you would prefer you make it there, too.

Our farmers have a job to do, and we all have somewhere to be. Give them some room, enjoy the view, and remember: a little patience goes a long way, especially when the vehicle ahead of you has tires taller than your car.

Stay safe, Boone County, and happy harvest! 🌾

👩‍🍳RECIPE OF THE WEEK!

Here's a recipe that I have never heard of! Have you ever made Mashed Potato Candy?

This week's recipe is Mashed Potato Candy from Bessie Rice, member of Jefferson!

2 med. potatoes
2 lbs powdered sugar
Peanut Butter

Cook potatoes in water until done. Drain and mash. Beat in enough powdered sugar to make thick enough to roll like pie dough. Sprinkle board with powdered sugar. Roll out, spread with peanut butter. Roll into a jellyroll. Chill well. Slice in pieces. Better to wrap into pieces if it is left setting out.

This recipe is quick and so simple. If you have made this recipe or one like it before leave a comment below⬇️ and tell us all about it. Find this recipe and more in our 1995 cookbook!

If you are a BCEH Member, family or friend of a BCEH member or past member and would love to have your or their recipe featured on our Recipe of the Week or Month please email our Marketing Coordinator, Katie K at [email protected]

🌼 Happy Grandparents Day! 🌼

Today we celebrate the grandparents who fill our lives with love, wisdom, laughter, and memories that last a lifetime. ❤

From family recipes passed down through generations to stories shared around the kitchen table, grandparents have a special way of keeping traditions and family history alive.

💕 Here’s to the grandparents who teach us, encourage us, spoil us just a little, and love us endlessly.

Happy Grandparents Day from the Boone County Extension Homemakers! 🐝💛
