Mr. Neal plays his ukulele for the class. He reads us the book Abiyoyo and then sings the Abiyoyo song. He then let each child take a turn at trying out the ukelele.

We enjoyed our field trip to Dull's Fall Harvest. We are so blessed to have them donate a field to us every year.
We learned about pumpkins and how they grow. We walked through the corn maze and read the story Spookley the Square pumpkin. Each child got to take home a pumpkin and an activity packet.
Thank you to all the families that were able to join us.

We played the game, Candyland over a two day period. Preschoolers develop essential cognitive, social, and motor skills while playing Candy Land.
•Color Recognition: Matching game piece movement to colored squares on the cards reinforces basic color identification.
• Visual Discrimination: Comparing the illustrations on specialty cards to the matching pictures along the board path builds matching and visual perception skills.
• Basic Math & Counting: Counting out grid spaces or tracking how many turns remain helps build early numerical concepts and linear sequence awareness.
• Following Rules: Learning to draw a single card, wait for a turn, and obey board directions (like moving forward or getting stuck on a licorice space) teaches structured rule-following

Each child chose a book that they wanted to read to the class.
When preschoolers "read" a book to other children (pretend reading, retelling, or using picture clues), they build key developmental, social, and early literacy skills:

Early Literacy & Print Awareness

• Book Handling Mechanics: They practice holding a book right-side up, turning pages one by one, and tracking text from front to back.
• Narrative Retelling: They practice memory, sequence of events, and summarizing plot points in their own words.

Social & Communication Skills

• Peer Interaction & Turn-Taking: They practice leading, listening, asking questions, and responding when sharing a book together.
• Confidence & Public Speaking: Acting as the "reader" or "teacher" empowers them, builds self-assurance, and reduces anxiety around group participation.

The Lebanon Fire Department came for a visit today. It is Fire Prevention week so we discussed the importance of fire safety. We practiced stop, drop and roll along with discussing if you ever encounter a fire to get out of the house and stay out.
We enjoyed seeing a fire truck and getting to sit inside it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Grandparent's Day. It was such a blessing for each child to have someone present to spend time with creating a page for our Headstart cookbook. We will get these together and share one with every family.
