Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Back to School Drive this year! Those who sponsored children, organized supply drives, volunteered, and more. You made sure local students will start the school year prepared and confident, and you gave parents one less thing to worry about. Because it starts with a backpack, but it's more than that: clothing, shoes, supplies, and everything picked just for them (like Minecraft or Hello Kitty theme) đź’™

HomeFront’s Camp Mercer kids LOVE their summer swims. BIG THANKS to the partners who help prepare our campers for water safety, swim lessons, and summer fun 🙌 Since 2018, the NJ Swim Safety Alliance (NJSSA) NJSSA, the NJ Recreation & Park Association, and Dolfin Dolfin Swimwear have donated much needed swimsuits and goggles for our campers—and they came through once again this year! Each suit came with an information card on water safety and drowning prevention from the NJSSA. We encourage everyone to use their tips to be water safe: https://www.njswimsa.org/water-safety-tips/

Let's make this a great start to the school year for local students facing poverty or homelessness. You'll assist with checking school supplies, packing backpacks, and preparing everything for distribution to families the following week.

Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older. All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone for the duration of the service project.

If you're able, we encourage you to bring new school supplies to donate to multiply your impact! 🎒

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated Claudia Franco Kelly, the chair of our board of trustees, as one of the inaugural recipients of the NJBIZ Board Leadership Awards. Claudia joined HomeFront's board in 2019 after first volunteering hands-on in our food security programs. Drawing on more than 36 years in financial services, including a long career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, she helped shape HomeFront's current strategic plan. Her vision and leadership as Board Chair has helped strengthen our ability to meet the growing needs of families in our community. Congratulations, Claudia, on this well-deserved recognition and your continued care and commitment to helping Mercer County families build stability and brighter futures!

The cost of housing is simply too high. But a home is where stability begins.

"In New Jersey, the Fair Market Rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $2,282. In order to afford this level of rent and utilities — without paying more than 30% of income on housing — a household must earn $7,607 monthly or $91,289 annually." - National Low Income Housing Coalition

There's a disconnect between what families can earn and what those dollars can cover. So parents make a choice. They buy fewer groceries, or skip meals so their kids can eat. They choose between rent and medication, stretch diapers and other supplies to last longer than they're meant to. They go without.

The housing crisis is bigger than any one of us. But every eviction prevented, every family housed, and every child who goes to bed in a safe home is real progress. Together, we make sure families don't face their most difficult days alone.
