Our Thanksgiving & Holiday Wishes Drives are officially underway! Help HomeFront bring joy, comfort, and hope to families across Central New Jersey this holiday season šŸ’™

Thanksgiving Drive: The best way to help is to pack one or more Thanksgiving baskets! Other ways to help are: donate individual food items, give a grocery gift card, or organize a food drive to help families enjoy a home-cooked holiday meal.

A heartfelt thank you to Helpful Hoodies for supporting HomeFront and the families we serve. Your kindness and generosity make a meaningful difference in our community! šŸ‘•šŸ’™

Through their hard work and dedication, they collected and donated an amazing 435 hoodies to help provide warmth and comfort to the individuals and families we serve.

Ryan and Ethan are already looking ahead, with a goal of collecting 1,500 hoodies by their Bar Mitzvah next December! We are so grateful to be part of this meaningful effort and excited to see the impact they continue to make.

Thank you for turning kindness into action and for helping HomeFront support our community. We appreciate you!

Joy, Hopes, and Dreams (JHD) tutoring is in full swing for the new school year! JHD provides year-round opportunities to learn, explore, and have fun for hundreds of local children and families facing housing instability and homelessness.

We love the enthusiasm our Wednesday night tutors brought to the new year! On Wednesday nights, our tutors include community volunteers, Rider University Bonner Scholars, and students from The Lawrenceville School.

We're looking for more volunteer tutors who are 18 years and older. Visit homefrontnj.org/volunteer to get started with our individual volunteer application and virtual volunteer orientation!

Each year during Hunger Action Month, TASK is proud to honor the community partners who make an impact on our mission.

At last month's fifth annual Community Meal & Awards event, TASK took time to acknowledge the surge in food insecurity that continues to escalate across the area. TASK Board Vice President Pastor Rupert A. Hall, Jr., opened the ceremony by acknowledging that TASK's record-breaking numbers over the past year are both a cause for celebration and a reason for concern.

TASK CEO Amy Flynn emphasized that TASK's role goes beyond feeding our neighbors in need: "Hunger cannot be solved by food alone.ā€ It is also TASK's responsibility to reduce people's reliance on hunger relief programs like ours. Through our continuum of care TASK helps people along the path to self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.

It was our sincere privilege to also recognize and honor some of our most impactful partners in this work.

TASK was pleased to present a Community Partner of the Year Award to HomeFront and Brenda Whitaker, Social Solutions Center Director. Together, their tireless and compassionate efforts have helped countless individuals achieve greater stability and self-sufficiency.

TASK also presented a Community Partner of the Year Award to the Meal Recovery Coalition (MRC), led by Share My Meals. TASK celebrated the incredible work the MRC is doing across New Jersey to rescue quality meals from restaurants and corporate cafeterias, as well as the work they have done to enhance education and advocacy around food rescue.

Assemblyman Anthony S. Verrelli presented our Advocate of the Year award to the Princeton Area Community Foundation for their work and partnership in mobilizing during last year's government shutdown and SNAP crisis. PACF brought partners and funds together quickly to minimize disruption and reduce the impact to those who rely on nonprofit organizations like TASK across Mercer County.

As we look back at the past year, we can't help but feel gratitude for all of our partners, donors and volunteers who support TASK and our partners in hunger relief. Each day, with your help, we move closer to a hunger-free tomorrow.

šŸ“¢ Our offices and Donation Center will be closing at 12pm today, 10/2, for a staff event. Families currently staying with us will continue to receive ongoing care and support from staff. HomeFront's Treasure Trove remains open from 10am-5pm on Friday.

Our Donation Center will be re-open for standard Saturday hours from 9am-12pm. We ask that you please donā€™t leave donated items outside today while the Donation Center is closed.

September isnā€™t over yet. Did you know that feeding families is something weā€™ve been doing since HomeFront began 35 years agoā€”when we were a group of volunteers who began taking meals to homeless families residing in local motels? Today, thanks to our caring community, we do even more to make sure parents can put food on the table. And that often helps a family in other ways: being able to put that money toward rent, the electric bill, or a car repair. Last year, an average of 1,699 families a month, just like the one shown here, came to one of our choice market food pantries. This year, weā€™ve done even more to help families access healthy food and even grow their own. And we believe that families should get to choose what food theyā€™d like for their families instead of us choosing for them. Thereā€™s no one way to prevent hunger in our community, it really does take all of us, bit by bit. If youā€™d like to help, you can volunteer, donate food, spread the word, and so much more.
