KSWLA Congratulates Brylie Fenner, winner of the 2026 Garinger Scholarship!

Brylie Fenner is a Sophomore at Benedictine College and an exceptional, dedicated Spanish language learner. Throughout high school, she demonstrated outstanding motivation by completing an independent Spanish study, engaging with authentic Spanish resources, and using her language skills to support a Spanish-speaking newcomer student at a local elementary school. She earned the 2025 Kansas Seal of Biliteracy – Silver Level, reflecting her commitment and growth in Spanish.

Brylie is currently double majoring in Spanish and Elementary Education, with the goal of using her language skills to serve Spanish-speaking students and potentially teach Spanish or work in a dual-language program. She recently participated in a mission trip to Peru, where she had the opportunity to experience Spanish in an immersive setting. She will be studying in Spain next semester! Brylie’s dedication to language learning, education, and service exemplifies the qualities of a lifelong language learner and makes her a deserving recipient of the Garinger Scholarship.

Thank you to Rebecca Werthmann for the nomination!
