Today, we honor the histories, cultures, and continuing contributions of Indigenous peoples.

Lawrence stands on the ancestral homelands of the Kanza and Osage peoples and is home to Haskell Indian Nations University, a vital institution in our community and a center for Indigenous education, culture, and heritage.

On this Indigenous Peoples' Day, we celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples and recognize their enduring presence and contributions to our community.

Stop by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Station 3 between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. to meet some of the people who serve our community, learn more about their work, and take a look around the station.

No registration is needed. Just drop in!

💙 Some events are special because of what happens there. Others are special because of the people who make them happen. Summer's End Cruise-In is both.

Year after year, the Summer’s End team brings together an incredible mix of people, vehicles, music, food, community organizations and families to create something that feels genuinely Lawrence.

This year’s event brought out more than 160 vehicles, plenty of visitors and lots of kids for a true family day.

Lawrence Blue Santa was grateful to be part of it alongside Set 'em up Jacks, O'Connell Children's Shelter, Easy G and the Blue Notes, Rich Johnson After Midnight and everyone else who gave their time and energy to make the day such a success.

Thank you to the Summer’s End Cruise-In team for creating the kind of event that brings the best people together for a great cause. 💙❤️🩵

🚘 Summer’s End Cruise-In is coming up this Saturday! 🏍️💙

Join Set 'em up Jacks and the Summer's End Cruise-In crew on Saturday, October 3, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Pavilion for hot rods, cool bikes, food and a day of community fun.

Come check out the vehicles, spend some time with friends and help support two organizations serving local children and families.

Proceeds benefit Lawrence Blue Santa and O'Connell Children's Shelter.

New information for the October 3rd car show!

The show is almost here and with a new venue we want to provide some detail on exactly where on the Fairgrounds we will be and best way to access the arena for those entering the show. The following map will detail where we are, how to drive in and where public parking is located. We expect to have our largest show yet. We will have most, if not all, entries inside and we have outside and overflow area as well.

Today we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the firefighters, police officers, Port Authority officers, paramedics, EMTs, military personnel, emergency workers, and everyday people who showed extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy.

We also remember the strength that comes from people standing together and caring for one another.

Lawrence Blue Santa joins our community in remembrance. 🇺🇸💙

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the 2026 Summer’s End Cruise-In originally scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at Broken Arrow Park has been POSTPONED.
