The Haskell Cultural Center and Museum opened on September 14, 2002, with the vision of respectfully serving as a steward of living tribal materials, traditions and cultural arts. Using these tools as a vehicle of transmission, the truthfully conveys the story of Haskell Indian Nations University’s remarkable evolution from a government boarding school to its present day fully accredited University status.



The Haskell Cultural Center and Museum celebrates the living heritage and culture of all tribal peoples and strives to continue the legacy of education.

Partner Spotlight: Platte County Historical Society
Find the Ben Ferrel Platte County Museum at: 220 Ferrel St, Platte City, MO 64079

The Ben Ferrel Museum occupies a Victorian, Federal Empire Style brick mini-mansion. Frederic Krause, an immigrant from Prussia, built this home in 1882 to modestly reflect features of the Governor’s mansion in Jefferson City, Missouri. Both structures showcase a mansard roof, ornamental cresting, brick construction and limestone corner quoins.

Every piece of furnishing, dating from 1840 to c. 1900, has a Platte County history, in a Victorian, is located in the Federal Empire Style brick mini-mansion. A curved staircase made of walnut and mahogany leads you to the 2nd floor where there are four bedrooms. The basement, which once contained a cooking area, dining area, w**e cellar, cistern room, wash area, and workroom, houses the Platte County Historical Society's genealogical library, archives and additional museum display rooms. The museum has a rare Civil War collection of Col. Charles E. Sinnet, a Union soldier.

Partner Spotlight: Trailside Center
Find them at: 9901 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131

The Trailside Center is a Missouri Tourist Center and community facility in Kansas City, Missouri. It is also the location of a small museum for the Historical Society of New Santa Fe’s collection of artifacts on 3 trails (Oregon, California, and Santa Fe Historic Trails).

The center is located at the intersection of Holmes Road and East 99th Street. The entrance is behind the building, nearer to the parking lot on the side.

Representative Sharice Davids has stood up for Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area, Inc. time and again, and has advocated for all NHAs through co-sponsoring the National Heritage Area Act. She is also leading the effort to designate Quindaro Townsite in Kansas as a National Historic Landmark - one of Freedom's Frontier's top priorities.
