One of North Georgia's most historic places...the Traveler's Rest State Historic Site in Toccoa is a rare spot where you can walk right into the early 1800s and see how people lived along one of the region’s busiest travel routes. It started as a roadside inn along the old Unicoi Turnpike, where stagecoach travelers would stop to rest before continuing through the mountains. Over time, it became the heart of Devereaux Jarrett’s massive 14,000-acre cotton plantation.

Inside the 14-room house, you’ll see original hand-made furniture, a working loom, and old kitchen tools that show what daily life looked like back then. Step outside and you can visit the spring house, blacksmith shop, and the remaining slave quarters, all still standing on the grounds. The wide front porch looks out toward the same mountain views guests saw more than 200 years ago, and standing there, it truly feels like nothing has changed.

🐰🥚 Calling All Easter Helpers! 🥚🐰

The Easter Bunny has 6,000 eggs to hide at Tugaloo State Park, and he could use a few extra helping hands!

If you would like to help hide eggs for our upcoming Easter celebration, meet the Easter Bunny at the park office on Saturday, April 4, at 8:30 AM. He’ll have your clutch of eggs ready, along with instructions on where to place them.

Come lend a hand and help make this event extra special for all the little egg hunters who will be joining us!

We hope to see you there! 🌷🐣
