They’re back and they need YOU!

The school year is underway, which means our mentors will soon be meeting with the children they’ve been matched with!

But unfortunately, some children are still waiting for a mentor of their own.

Could that mentor be you?

Our school-based mentoring programs are looking for caring adults who can spend a little time each week building a meaningful connection with a child and making a difference that can last far beyond the school year.

Mentor opportunities are available at:

Mentors: In Case You Missed It!

Welcome back to the 2026–2027 school year! We’re so excited to have you back and are looking forward to another great year of mentoring.

We recently emailed our mentors about upcoming Informational Sessions. These sessions will be less than an hour and are a great opportunity to:

• Check in with our mentoring team
• Learn about some communication changes
• Make plans for student attendance, closings, and delays
• Pick up mentor curriculum, if needed
• Ask questions and get ready for the year ahead

We are so grateful for the generosity and kindness of Passion Growers!

Steven from Passion Growers recently reached out because he wanted to make a generous donation to Family Advocates. He learned about the work we do in our community through our local flower expert and friend, Tu Bloom, who shared our mission and the impact we have on children and families right here in La Porte County.

We are incredibly thankful to Steven and the entire Passion Growers team for thinking of Family Advocates and for recognizing the important work our staff and volunteers do every day.

You can't have a great night without great food and Dueling for a Cause definitely delivered!

A huge THANK YOU to SWEET LOU, That's WHO" for providing the delicious food for our guests and to their incredible staff who kept everything fresh, full, and ready to go throughout the entire evening.

And of course, thank you to Al's Supermarkets for the delicious desserts that gave everyone a little something sweet to finish the night!

We are so grateful to both local businesses for helping make our evening special. Your generosity and support helped create an experience our guests won't soon forget.

Family Advocates remains without power, and our building remains closed. This includes all Harmony House visits.

Our staff is continuing to work remotely and is available by email. We are thinking of our entire community during this devastating week and will continue sharing helpful resources and updates here as they become available.

If you need assistance, please reach out to us. We will do our best to connect you with the resources that are right for your situation.
