💜On Thursday, October 15th, communities across the country will recognize Purple Thursday as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

💜The SCVS team invites everyone to wear purple with us as a visible reminder that survivors are seen, heard, believed, and supported.

💜If you've been looking for a sign to pick up something purple, consider this your official permission to shop! Or dig out your favorite purple outfit, accessory, socks, jewelry, or anything else that helps you show your support.

💜Together, let's fill our schools, workplaces, businesses, and communities with purple.

Join Sullivan County Victim Services and our friends at the Sullivan County Library for a special screening of Sleeping with the Enemy in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

There will be pizza and refreshments. Following the film, participants are invited to stay for a discussion about domestic violence, healthy relationships, and available local resources.

💜Today, we recognize the National Day of Unity, a day that marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and reminds us that ending domestic violence requires all of us working together.

💜The Day of Unity began in October 1981, when advocates across the country joined together to raise awareness about domestic violence, connect survivors with support, honor those who lost their lives to abuse, and strengthen a growing movement for change. What started as a single day of action eventually grew into Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

💜Today, and throughout October, we stand united with survivors, families, advocates, and communities committed to creating a future free from violence. Together, we can raise awareness, support survivors, challenge harmful behaviors, and help build safer communities for everyone.

We also stand with The New York Alliance Against Sexual Violence (.alliance) and all sexual assault centers providing support to survivors across New York. We recognize the advocates who listen, help survivors explore their options, and stand beside them through difficult moments. Our solidarity extends across state lines.

Survivors deserve institutions that take reports seriously, conduct thorough investigations, and answer for how they respond to sexual violence. They deserve communities that challenge victim blaming and refuse to excuse harmful behavior.

The Crime Victims Fund (CVF) provides critical funding for services supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, trafficking, and other crimes. Today, the CVF is facing significant challenges, putting essential victim services at risk.

Communities are already feeling the impact. Many victim service programs have been forced to reduce services, lay off staff, and, in some cases, close their doors. Without action, more survivors could be left without the support they need to heal, rebuild their lives, and move forward.

The bipartisan Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act ( ) offers a commonsense solution to help stabilize the CVF using non-taxpayer dollars while Congress works toward a long-term solution.

The House unanimously passed the legislation. Now, we’re asking the Senate to take action!

We encourage Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senators, Senator John Fetterman and Senator Dave McCormick, along with Senate leadership, to support the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act and help ensure that critical services remain available to victims and survivors.

Victims and survivors can’t afford to wait.💜
