We can’t stop thinking about last Friday’s first MasterWorks concert of the 97th season! Congratulations Maestro Scott Seaton, the phenomenal Keila Wakao, and the wonderful musicians of the LSO. We can’t wait for MasterWorks 2 on Friday, October 16th. Stay tuned for more!

What happens if someone emits a gurgling scream during a symphonic production? You hope Scott Seaton is at the baton.
Seaton puts a lot of time, energy and thought into looking for ways to break down traditional barriers and connect directly with audiences, but that scream (you can see the video) was a gift from the blue.
Laughter spread from the audience to the musicians as they struggled to keep up with Stravinsky’s blistering, complex music. Without missing a beat, Seaton smiled, glanced over his shoulder and gave the audience a wink.
“It was this moment of connection, and it was incredibly important,” he recalled. “I wanted to let them know it was fine. Someone had a natural reaction.”
If you want a big reaction, come out Friday and see Seaton, the first of five candidates auditioning at length this year to permanently take the reins of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra.
