CONGRATULATIONS to THE COOK UP SENIORS!

We held 2026 Senior Salutes at each High School with cupcakes, speeches, and tears of joy for these incredible students!

Thank you Cook Up Seniors! For showing up week after week, year after year, to learn, share, lead, be a part of AYO, and help to create community in your schools!

You’ve worked so hard to get here and we are so proud of you! We are cheering you on, and excited to see you soar in this next season of life!

THE JUMP OFF last weekend was a full circle moment!

Here’s why:
In our first iteration/inception, AOTA started with Beat Battles in hopes to bring producers together to build connections and community.

This year, 3 GENERATIONS of producers were represented, and on the one year anniversary of our chapter of creating a mechanism of community outside of the battles.

It was powerful to experience , one of our first teaching artists come back as a Judge along with one our current TA, . Both of them mentored who competed, was a finalist, and is a current TA as well! Their current students ( and BARS) showcased along with judge and co-founder of , , and the incredible who in parallel continues to find and create new ways to empower women in this art form!

Three gens, and more to come!

THANK YOU to the TOP 8 for bringing the 🔥 and helping make another amazing battle happen again this year! And to the community who shows up to cheer, support, and judge when there are ties. We are grateful to continue to together!

On Friday, May 29th we’re cutting the ribbon on Phase 1. The first piece to open isn’t the main stage. It’s the Lansing Public Media Center, a community media facility attached to what will become a 2100-cap long awaited music venue in Downtown Lansing. Recording studios, podcast suites, post-production bays, and a 70-seat screening room in a building that will also serve as a core venue and HQ for the Capital City Film Festival. The Ovation staff offices are also located in this Phase.

Once open in 2027, the Ovation will have many features and components that make it super fun and memorable, but having the LPMC at its heart is the most unique one by far.

Phase 1 is the headline today. The main stage follows in 2027. You don’t have to wait to walk inside. Come celebrate with us, we’ll have performing live and popcorn popping!
