Congrats to 2026 Kindling Awardee, Bob Fletcher 👏👏👏

Bob is Tupper Lake's loudest, proudest, and most big-hearted cheerleader. Known as “everyone’s favorite grocery bagger,” he swooped in like a superhero to single-handedly save the youth girls’ softball program from folding. He poured in his own time and money, rallied sponsors, fixed up the fields, and united the whole town around getting these kids on the diamond.

Bob is directing a $1,000 grant from ACF to the Town of Tupper Lake Recreation Dept.

Congrats to 2026 Kindling Awardee, Abigail Eichler👏👏👏

Abigail is the unofficial MVP of youth sports in Indian Lake, driven by a mission to get kids off the couch and onto the field. While balancing a full-time career and raising two children, she serves as the primary engine for the local Little League — recruiting coaches, coordinating parents, and even securing the grants for equipment storage. Whether she’s managing the diamond in the spring or coordinating community ski trips to Oak Mountain in the winter, Abby’s volunteer hustle ensures every local child has a teammate and a place to play.

Abigail is directing a $1,000 grant from ACF to the Indian Lake Theater.

Huge congratulations to Charlie Brown, Executive Director of the Trust for Civic Life, on making the 2026 TIME100 Philanthropy list.

This honor recognizes his incredible leadership in driving national investment directly into locally-led, rural civic efforts.

As one of the first organizations to receive a grant from the Trust for Civic Life, we are especially excited to welcome Charlie and the Trust staff to the Adirondacks next month where we will introduce them to the incredible people and organizations making an impact across our region.

In April, Adirondack Community Foundation awarded $1.16 million in Generous Acts grants to organizations across the region.

This year highlighted creative efforts to overcome geographic isolation and deliver mobile and remote health care services. For example, The Long Lake Rescue Squad is launching a Mobile Integrated Health "Community Paramedic Program" to bring medical care directly to homebound and isolated elderly residents.

We thank the hundreds of donors, fund holders, and funding partners whose generosity enabled another record year of grantmaking.

Congrats to 2026 Kindling Awardee, Denise Conti👏👏👏

For nearly three decades, Denise has been filling the North Country with beautiful music. As the volunteer director of the North Country Singers, she unites residents from Johnsburg, Minerva, Chester, Schroon, and beyond through the pure joy of song. Welcoming all voices, she has cultivated a tight-knit family of 40 vocalists who share harmonies, laughter, and deep mutual encouragement.

Denise is directing a $1,000 grant from ACF to the Tannery Pond Center.

We are so proud to partner with United Way of the Adirondack Region, Inc to strengthen the social safety net in our communities.

Today, we’re proud to spotlight the Adirondack Community Foundation and the powerful impact they are making across our region through the Strengthening the Social Safety Net initiative.

Adirondack Community Foundation continues to lead the way in bringing organizations together, investing in real community needs, and helping create stronger support systems for families across the Adirondacks. Their commitment to collaboration and long-term regional impact is helping local agencies respond more effectively to some of the biggest challenges facing our communities today.

Through this work, housing stability has emerged as the most urgent need, representing 54% of requests for support. Reliable transportation follows closely behind because in rural communities, access to transportation affects nearly everything including employment, healthcare, childcare, and the ability to remain stably housed.

We are especially grateful for their partnership with United Way of the Adirondack Region in supporting ALICE households throughout our area. What makes this funding so impactful is the flexibility it provides, allowing agencies to step in earlier and offer meaningful support before short-term hardships become long-term crises.

This partnership is helping strengthen the safety net for working families across the Adirondacks, and we are incredibly thankful to Adirondack Community Foundation for their leadership, vision, and investment in our communities. đź’™
