USA Luge is deeply saddened to announce the passing of longtime race official Peggy Mousaw at the age of 66.

Peggyโ€™s passion for the sport of luge was unmistakable, right down to her personalized โ€œUSLUGEโ€ license plate. A dedicated member of the luge community for decades, she first became involved in the sport as a competitor in the Masters division before turning her attention to officiating.

After retiring from competition, Peggy began serving as a race official in 2009 and earned certification from the International Luge Federation (FIL) in 2012. Over the next 15 years, she became a familiar and respected presence at races, known for her commitment, professionalism, and love of the sport.

In recognition of her service, Peggy was awarded the FIL Code of Honor in Silver on June 8 for her 15 years of dedication to the international luge community. She was also honored with the 2018 John Jenkins Sport Passion Award for her volunteer work as a race official and office assistant with USA Luge.

Beyond her officiating duties, Peggy served on the USA Luge Race Committee and generously gave her time to numerous events, including Dmitryโ€™s Feast of the Peaks, the annual fundraiser benefiting the Shipman Youth Center and supported by USA Luge.

Outside of luge, Peggy was a highly respected municipal consultant whose firm served communities throughout St. Lawrence County and across New York State. She took great pride in operating a New York State Certified Women-Owned Business and served as Chair of the State University of New York Potsdam Local Government Conference.

Peggyโ€™s dedication, generosity, and enthusiasm touched countless athletes, officials, volunteers, and friends throughout the luge community. Her contributions to the sport and the people around her will not be forgotten, and she will be greatly missed ๐Ÿ’”

Today we celebrate the incredible career of Tucker West as he announces his retirement from competitive luge after more than a decade representing Team USA at the highest level.

A three-time Olympian, Youth Olympic gold medalist, World Cup winner, record-setting starter, teammate, mentor, leader, and friend โ€” Tuckerโ€™s impact on USA Luge goes far beyond results sheets and finish times. From becoming one of the youngest U.S. Olympic luge athletes ever to inspiring the next generation of sliders, Tucker helped shape the future of American luge.

Known for his explosive starts, relentless work ethic, and passion for the sport, Tucker leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire athletes for years to come. Most importantly, he showed what it means to represent USA Luge with heart, resilience, and dedication.

Thank you, Tucker, for every start, every run, every comeback, and every moment you gave to this sport. We canโ€™t wait to see whatโ€™s next โ€”but youโ€™ll always be part of the USA Luge family ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ›ท๐Ÿซ‚
