Preserving the past and bringing history to life for all generations is the goal at Digital Abraham. The founding members in this project have combined experience, knowledge and interest in history, technology, genealogy, and coffee with a shared passion for the Adirondacks. Individually we have many different hobbies and talents, but combined we are striving for the goal of preserving and expandi
ng the history of the village of Lake Placid and the town of North Elba, NY. As we gather information for this project we will be presenting it in a digital format that will be readily accessible and shared across multiple formats. We are currently in the beginning stages of research and development with intentions of taking the data collected, and adding local history, to give an enhanced online exploration and sharing experience. We are accomplishing this by:
Research online
Archiving public records
Sourcing and cross referencing all data
Searchable website and app format. Creating social media networks for sharing
Photography
Creating a digital map of the town of north Elba cemetery with enhanced features
Taking action to reclaim any lost grave markers and the history connected to them
Industry standards best practices and procedures
Our intent is to stimulate new research and engage historians and individuals in search of area history and ancestry. We are also interested in recruiting individuals with interest in genealogy and history of the area to contribute to our project. We would like to invite the community to share and preserve their local family history and stories by submitting to our project, with this we hope to bring our town’s history to life.
