Meet Cortney Sam, a Forensic Interviewer Hearts of Hope: Center for Sexual Trauma!!! 🩵

•For Cortney, this work comes down to one simple but powerful truth! Being a listening ear and a safe space for someone who may have never had that. In a field that demands so much, she shows up with patience, compassion, and an open heart for every child who walks through the door.🏡✨

•And the moments that mean the most to her? When a child looks up and says they feel better after talking to her. That's everything.😊

•During PTSD Awareness Month, Cortney reminds us that what trauma-impacted children need most isn't complicated ~ they need someone who has patience, listens, and doesn't judge.❤️‍🩹

Meet Meaghan Hughes, a Forensic Interviewer at Gingerbread House CAC!!!✨🩵

•Being a forensic interviewer, for Meaghan, is deeply tied to purpose. From the start, she knew she wanted to work with children, and stepping into this role brought a sense of clarity! Her work is about creating a calm, safe space for children & teens in moments when they may not feel that anywhere else, and sitting beside some of the most courageous kids as they share their stories❤️‍🩹🏡

•She reminds us that while the work is often described as “tough,” there is meaning in that difficulty. The hardest days are not something to avoid, they are where growth happens, both personally and professionally, and where the importance of this work becomes even clearer.💪🏽

•One moment that has stayed with her came from a teenage girl at the end of an interview, who simply said “thank you”—🥹sharing that no one had taken the time to sit with her and truly listen before. That moment reflects something central to forensic interviewing: for many children, that time in the interview room may be the first time they feel fully heard. Meaghan holds that responsibility with care, creating space for children to feel that what they say matters, because it does.☺️💙

Meet Heather Denenea, a Forensic Interviewer Children's Advocacy Center-Hope House!!!!💙

•For Heather, forensic interviewing means giving each child their own space to share their story in their own words, at their own pace. And her dedication doesn't stop at the interview room. When court comes, she takes the stand alongside them, using her training and experience to help juries understand the complex dynamics of children's disclosures.❤️‍🩹

•One of her most powerful moments? Testifying for a child with a delayed disclosure — little evidence, incredible odds — and watching justice prevail anyway. "Her strength and bravery was the most inspiring part."🏡

•During PTSD Awareness Month, Heather wants the world to know that trauma-informed care means flexibility and compassion. Our processes must fit the needs of the children we serve, not the other way around.

•When it comes to taking care of herself in such a heavy field, Heather leans on her team, her faith, and her love for children, even volunteering in her church's children's ministry to remind herself what a blessing it is to simply sit and listen to kids. 💙

•Heather is also incredibly proud of Hope House CAC's entire MDT! Their forensic interviewers, victim advocates, and the team that shows up every single day for Louisiana's children.😊

•For Lacey, forensic interviewing is more than a job it’s a calling. She describes this work as a form of ministry, centered on creating a safe, supportive space where children feel comfortable sharing their experiences and taking the first steps toward healing!! ❤️‍🩹

•Some of the most meaningful moments for Lacey come when a child who first arrives hesitant slowly begins to open up and find their voice. Being part of creating that kind of safe space is something she never takes lightly!!😊
