The stories written into our buildings deserve to be told. 🏛️

Join us as we celebrate “Ancestral Artistry” — a documentary exploring the living craft traditions that have shaped Louisiana’s architectural soul — with a special screening in Thibodaux, LA, in partnership with AIA Coastal Louisiana.

From the hands that built our shotguns and raised our plantations to the artisans keeping those skills alive today, this film is a reminder that preservation is about people as much as it is about place.

The award will be announced at the AIA Louisiana ‘26 Conference Gala on Friday, October 2, 2026 in Gulf Shores, AL.

On May 16, 2026 the LAF will be partnering with The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park and the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve
to present a free screening of Ancestral Artistry along with a Master Crafts Guild Tabling event.
