Thank You, La Vista! 💙

The 2026 La Vista Gives Coat Drive has come to a close, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.

Thank you to everyone who donated new and gently used winter items, shared the Coat Drive with others, and helped support local families in our community.

We also want to thank each of our community drop-off partners for opening their doors and helping make donating easy throughout the drive.

Because of this community’s generosity, donated coats and winter items will help keep local families warm in the months ahead.

Thank you for showing once again what can happen when La Vista comes together. 🧥💙

🇺🇸 VETERAN SPOTLIGHT: ROBB GOTTSCH

Today, we’re honored to share the story of U.S. Navy veteran Robb Gottsch.

Robb joined the Navy shortly after graduating from Omaha Benson High School in 1988. During his years of service, he served aboard the USS Guadalcanal, with his time aboard the ship including a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea in 1989.

His Navy years gave him experiences, friendships and lessons that stayed with him long after his military service. Robb credits that time with teaching him discipline, responsibility, teamwork and leadership — qualities he later carried into more than 30 years in the fire service, eventually serving as Fire Chief.

His family’s tradition of service has continued as well, with two of his sons serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Looking back, Robb shared:

“The Navy was only one chapter of my life, but it was an important one.”

Thank you, Robb, for sharing your story with us and for your service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

As we look ahead to our Salute to Veterans Celebration on Sunday, November 8, we are grateful for the opportunity to honor veterans and the stories of service found throughout our community.

A New Chapter for a La Vista Landmark 💙

The Blue Star Memorial has long served as a meaningful tribute in our community. As Reflections Plaza comes to life, this important memorial will begin a new chapter in its new home at Central Park East.

Its purpose remains the same — honoring the men and women who have served our country — while becoming part of a space designed for our community to visit, remember, and reflect.

Same tribute. New home.
