Raise Your Voice is an annual opportunity for us to celebrate individuals and organizations working to create brighter futures for kids in our state. The event brings together community members, advocates, policymakers, and supporters who share a vision for a Nebraska where every child can thrive. Please join us in welcoming Tessa Nguyen as our young adult intern for the fall '26 semester!

Tessa is a freshman at Creighton University, majoring in Economics on the Pre-Law track. She's excited to join Voices for Children because she shares a dedication to advocating for children’s rights. Tessa co-founded and served as the Vice President of the Vietnamese Student Association at her high school, is a Mathnasium instructor for K-12 students, and has mentored youth through the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement. She's really excited to be a part of the team and looks forward to learning, growing, and contributing however she can.

We're thrilled to have you, Tessa!

Please join us in welcoming Adrishya Kumar, our high school intern for the fall '26 semester!

Adrishya is a rising junior at Brownell Talbot and brings an impressive record of leadership, service, and advocacy to VFC. Originally from Los Angeles, she moved to Omaha three years ago and is the daughter of parents who immigrated to the United States from India before she was born. She is a Teen Court attorney, founder and president of ThriveT1D—a nonprofit supporting youth with Type 1 Diabetes—and a recipient of the Congressional Silver Medal and Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award. She is also active in speech and theater, promotes cultural awareness through Indian Classical Dance performances, serves on the Mayor’s Inaugural Youth Advisory Council, and aspires to become an attorney with a focus on public policy and international affairs.

We are thrilled to have Adrishya on our team!

We're excited to honor this year's Outstanding Youth Advocates: Buffalo County Youth Advisory Board

The Buffalo County YAB brings together 25 student leaders from across Buffalo County to identify challenges facing young people and advocate for solutions that improve health and well-being for all students.

By reviewing student health data, elevating youth perspectives, and engaging directly in the legislative process, YAB is creating meaningful change in their communities. Their advocacy has helped advance policies that strengthen mental health crisis response systems and support early intervention for youth experiencing trauma, neglect, or instability.

Get tickets to celebrate the Buffalo County YAB with us on September 10, or make a donation in their honor at the link in the comments.
