Do recent changes to federal student loan repayment have you feeling confused, anxious, or overwhelmed? YOU’RE NOT ALONE!

Federal loan repayment has become more chaotic, but there are still tools that manage monthly payments and provide a path to loan forgiveness available to borrowers. Join us for an upcoming AAUP-AFT Student Debt Clinic to understand how to apply for currently available debt relief options, get access to resources to help you navigate future changes to federal student loan repayment, and advocate for better access and options for student loan borrowers to manage their debt.

If you are in repayment for your federal student loans and would like support, register for one of AAUP-AFT's Debt Clinics to be hosted for FREE on campus for UNO faculty and staff!

Friday, October 3, 3-4:30 PM

or

Saturday, October 4, 9:30-11 AM

*Please only register for one session since they will be identical. Both sessions will be held in the Ballroom in the Milo Bail Student Center at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

You don’t have to face federal student loan repayment by yourself. Join us for an AAUP-AFT Student Debt Clinic!

A few days ago American Association of University Professors published this advisory for academic workers in the wake of the intensive repression and censorship of the current moment.

If you’re an academic worker, whether you’re familiar with being targeted or not, consider reading through jt *before* you’re in the middle of a crisis.

The UNO Chapter of the AAUP firmly stands behind the principle that diversity, equity, and inclusion are foundational to the academic enterprise and inseparable from academic freedom and shared governance. We believe that a diverse faculty and student body fundamentally enhances knowledge production by expanding areas of inquiry, correcting blind spots in understanding, and creating more comprehensive scholarship. These DEl principles are not peripheral to our academic mission but central to fulfilling higher education's democratic purpose as a public good.

We view with grave concern recent executive orders that threaten DEl programs at public academic institutions. Such actions represent an overreach that endangers academic freedom, limits scholarly inquiry, and undermines the autonomy of higher education institutions. The UNO Chapter of the AAUP joins our national organization in opposing these threats to inclusive excellence and will continue to advocate for policies that support the broad representation of faculty and students across gender, race, and ethnicity-elements we consider essential to the advancement of research, teaching, and service that benefits our entire community.
