💔 WE DON'T KNOW HOW ELSE TO ASK.

We've posted Oreo again and again. You've seen his smile, his zoomies, and the goofy, happy boy we've been trying so hard to get home.

And still, he's here.

310 days in a kennel. And now, he's declining quickly.

Kennel stress is taking its toll. Oreo needs space, stimulation, and a home. He needs OUT.

He's dog-friendly, full of energy, and has a big personality. Cats aren't a match, and older kids who understand boundaries are best. He'll need guidance with his excitement around toys.

He's not perfect. He's a real dog who needs someone willing to help him succeed.

We've spent 310 days hoping someone would choose Oreo. We're running out of time to keep hoping.

🐾 “Hello, I’m the opossum hiding in your garage. Please don’t mistake my fear for aggression!” 🥹

When temperatures drop, a garage can look like a warm refuge to a wild animal searching for shelter.

Here are 5 things worth knowing about your neighborhood opossum:

❄️ I’m looking for shelter. Cold weather can make protected spaces especially appealing.

😬 That hissing is a warning. Opossums often hiss, bare their teeth, or freeze when frightened. Give me space instead of trying to handle me.

🕷️ I’m an opportunistic eater. I feed on insects, snails, fallen fruit, and other available foods. My role in controlling ticks is more complicated than viral posts suggest.

🛡️ Rabies is uncommon in opossums, but not impossible. Never touch or handle an unfamiliar wild animal.

🚪 I may leave on my own. If an opossum is inside your garage, keep people and pets away, provide a clear exit when safe, and contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator if it appears injured or trapped.

We have been asked to help with a situation in a trailer park in Ashland. This is normally out of our territory and we have asked for assistance from other rescues. Everyone is full. However this situation with the mom cat and 7 kittens is about to get a lot worse.

The Holidays will be Here Before You Know It!
HHA is looking for a venue, or venues, to showcase our furry friends mid-November to mid-December on a Sunday afternoon for a couple hours.
We prefer meet and greet locations where it's not specifically a pet oriented store .
Most rescue people know what it's like when you have meet and greet events and people come up to love on your rescues, only to say...
"If I didn't already have three at home...."
HHA is looking for a venue where the odds are favored to people who may only have one other pet or no pets at the time.
We also know based on the economy, having a multiple pet household can be expensive.
So if you have a venue or an area available for them, please don't hesitate to reach out!
We'd love to work with you and know the dogs would love to spend time with you and your patrons!

Taking Suggestions for this lovable bundle of frenzied fluff.
Tres is one of the most chill and laid-back dogs we've met....
⏸️ UNTILLLL!
(some of you tiktok-ers will get that part 😊)
Until a car ride is necessary.
You can see Tres' sparkling eyes change to fear and sadness.
His body visibly shakes.
He drools and foams at the mouth and experiences nausea and vomiting.
At first we thought the movement of the car caused stress, but even the sight of a parked vehicle sets off his anxiety.
We are trying to reach out to an animal communicator to see what possibly is the cause, but in the meantime we have tried several forms of prescription and natural supplements to help ease his anxiety as well as nausea medication. Nothing has been successful.
Before we purchase another product, on our small budget, has anyone else experienced travel anxiety with their dog to this extreme? A thundershirt was suggested but not sure how successful it would be in this situation.
Any other proven recommendations are welcome to help make Tres future travels better.
