Allicyn Schuster Memorial Page

Allicyn Schuster Memorial Page Allicyn passed away April 25, 2021. This page is where we will continue to share her memory. Alli enjoyed her family, friends, and motorcycles in her free time.

We work very hard to raise awareness to early access to mental health. We also promote female atheltes and women working in the comstruction trades. The Non-Profit Allicyn Schuster Memorial, INC was created in October of 2021. Allicyn was a graduate of the 2017 Papillion/La Vista Monarchs and in High School she was an 8x All-American female wrestler, 2-time National Champion, 2-time Team USA Cadet

, and Junior Team member. She was also an IBEW Local 22 Apprentice working for Downs Electric and she coached wrestling at Skutt Catholic High School. Unfortunately, on April 25, 2021, Allicyn committed suicide at the age of 21. She left behind a passion and a legacy of helping others around her and we intend to carry on that tradition of giving back. Establishing a memorial in Allicyn’s name will allow us to carry on 3 missions. The priority of the Allicyn Schuster Memorial is to support and encourage individuals to improve their mental health by reaching out when they feel hopeless or need help. With encouraging people to take that step, we are making every effort to build a network of licensed therapists that will schedule with them ASAP. Secondly, the Allicyn Schuster Memorial will be supporting future female apprentice electricians with an annual scholarship to go towards books and supplies for apprentice classes. In late 2021, the NSAA sanctioned Girls Wrestling in High School here in Nebraska and we will be utilizing proceeds to help with female singlets, uniforms, and camps for girls from across the state. If you wish to donate, or have any further questions, you can contact Kirk Schuster [email protected]. Once again, we are a non-profit organization and if you need qualified documentation for tax purposes, we are able to provide that upon request

We appreciate your consideration and help in reaching our goal of giving back to others in Allicyn Schuster’s memory. Respectfully,

Jamie Schuster

Emotional… you can say that. The sport of wrestling brings high highs and low lows and at the end of a day like today not only the athletes feel them but the coaches do also. 1 of my rules with the girls is after each match you get 5 minutes. In that five minutes you can celebrate, or you can be sad or angry or any other emotion that is not destructive but then we reset, then move onto the next one. Today I had to give myself the same 5 minutes after a tuff loss in overtime. The match happened in the heartbreak round and there is a reason that round is called that. As my athlete gracefully shook her opponents hand and gracefully walked off the mat knowing that was her last ever high school match it hit me and it hit me hard… she looked at me and said I don’t want this to be over, I don’t want it to end here, I have more I want to do! Those words closely mimic the words that Allicyn Schuster said to me in Fargo as I carried her off the mat after being unconscious and ended up with two torn labrum’s. I heard those words from one but saw the other saying them. So after talking with Kaycie and reminding her all the things she has accomplished and that wrestling did not define who she is as a person I had to go take a couple minutes to myself to reflect. I was not celebrating, I was not angry I merely was collecting my thoughts and reminding myself I was gifted enough to be on Allicyn’s journey, and now other young ladies allow me to coach them on theirs and it’s amazing. As we wound down the day I was able to snap a couple pictures with Kaylyn and Drea from Skutt, plus Jorja from Beatrice after they punched thier tickets to state this year and finished off the day with a treat of Fro Yo that I promised the girls earlier in the season! All in all a good day, learned a lot about myself today also and thankful I have an amazing support system around myself to keep me going on days when I could easily slip into a negative space. Allicyn I miss you, I belive you should be here and I hope you’re proud of the dad and coach I am!

This last week 3 Nebraska High School Girls were able to attend a off season wrestling camp at Grandview. These ladies work hard all year long and this is just one example. The Allicyn Schuster Memorial Page was able to assist with some of the cost utilizing funds from the Non-Profit Memorial. Thank you to Kaylyn, Drea and Piper for representing Nebraska Girls Wrestling and doing the hard work to make yourselves better.
