Ever wondered what it’s like developing plays as an actor? Wonder no further!

Auditions take place Saturday August 29th from 2-5pm and Sunday August 30th from 6-9pm at the Emporium Center, located at 100 S. Gay Street Knoxville, TN 37902. No appointments or monologues required. You will be reading from sides of the shows we will be working on this year.

Meet Mary Sidney, aptly named after Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke. She was one of the first English women to be known for work in literature, both as a playwright and a patronage of the arts.

Over the years, Dolly has been part of our soundscape. But her legacy expands past music. She touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and beautiful heart. Congratulations to our 2026-2027 playwrights, and a big thank you everyone who submitted. We are so appreciative that you shared your stories with us.

Now... drum roll for the 2027 New Play Festival! ✨✨

The festival performances will be at The Lab Theatre, and Borderland Playhouse January 5th-17th, with table readings starting in October.

Meet The Burleson Brothers 🎶

Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, this trio draws on musical traditions from across the country to deliver a distinctive mix of timeless classics, innovative bluegrass arrangements, and songwriting.

They will be performing at our New Play Festival Announcement this Sunday August 23rd from 6:00-8:00pm at the Emporium Center along with special guest vocalist Katherine Helveston.
