We’re incredibly proud of the renovation of our Nancy J. Land Center and honored to have received a Preservation Merit Award from Knox Heritage!

For more than a century, this building has been part of Knoxville’s history, providing a place for women to find community, support, and opportunity. The renovation has helped preserve its historic character while making it a more welcoming and functional space for the women we serve today.

Do you have a special memory of the YWCA on Clinch Avenue? We’d love to hear it in the comments!

💡✨ Lights On Afterschool!

Last week, we joined communities across the country in celebrating the importance of afterschool programs and the opportunities they create for young people!

At YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley, we know that learning, growth, and connection don’t stop when the school day ends. We’re proud to be part of a community that supports our youth and helps them build brighter futures!

As we wrap up our first series of classes for this semester, we wanted to take a moment to thank our community partners that have generously hosted us! We extend a special thank you to the YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley and Phyllis Wheatley Community Center!

A trusted East Knoxville community center since 1920, the YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center is the main facility for the YWCA’s youth programs in East Tennessee, with staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide youth with the tools to succeed in school and beyond!

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to come together this morning with community members for a special event with Dr. David Kitts of the Knoxville Police Department.

Dr. Kitts shared valuable insight into the importance of collaboration between law enforcement, community organizations and advocates in helping survivors of domestic violence find safety and support. We are proud to have so many amazing partners in our community working towards this mission.

Thank you to Dr. Kitts for his expertise and to everyone who joined us for this important conversation. Together, we can continue building a community where survivors are heard, supported and empowered. 💜

Our YWCA team is wearing purple in support of survivors!

Yesterday, we joined communities across the country in recognizing Purple Thursday, a day to raise awareness about domestic violence and show solidarity with survivors.

At YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley, supporting survivors is at the heart of what we do every day. We’re proud to stand together and remind those experiencing domestic violence that they are not alone.

Together, we can help build a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered. 💜
