Samson and King David were both strong men, chosen and anointed by God. Mighty in strength, courageous in battle, and favored by the Lord—yet both were brought low, not by enemies, not by armies, but by the desires of their own hearts.

Samson’s strength was undone by chasing what felt good. David’s peace was stolen by taking what wasn’t his. Their stories remind us that power, talent, or calling cannot replace vigilance over our hearts, our eyes, and our desires.

Being used by God is not a shield against temptation. Anointing doesn’t erase accountability, and a calling doesn’t excuse compromise. Even the strongest can fall if they fail to guard what God entrusted to them.

Let their lives be a warning, and an encouragement. Guard your heart. Guard your eyes. Guard your desires. Strength is a gift, but faithfulness is a choice. 🙏🏻🤍

Thoughts for the day 🙏🏻

Regardless of how we slice it, our choices are a matter of the heart, be it joining in on sinful acts or following poor leadership, We follow what we love. So I ask us to ponder, When I claim to be a follower of Jesus and it comes to my own rebellion and excuses toward Jesus ways of living life, do I really love him? Trust him?

I think of Jesus riding into Jerusalem and people praising him and how quickly the people turned against him. The crowds hoped for immediate political liberation from Rome. When Jesus did not fight or seize power, his popularity faded rapidly. They “followed” for what they could get out of him, not because the really loved him and wanted to follow him.
