Family of Woodstock's Darmstadt Shelter Emergency shelter (up to 90 days) for up to 19 men and women. Housing and services for men and women who need a clean and sober living environment.

Housing and services for men and women participating in daily substance abuse and/or mental health programming, who need a clean and sober living environment. The program also provides Intensive Homeless Supervision, which provides supervision and support to individuals at risk of requiring a higher level of care or supervision, including those involved in the criminal justice system. eling; case management; information and referrals; linkages to other county and private agencies’ programming; parenting education; information on identifying domestic violence; life skills training; legal consultation referrals; nutrition education; educational advancement, including on premises GED classes provided by Ulster County BOCES; acupuncture, massage, and other holistic health care services delivered on premises by practioners from Health Care is a Human Right; free clothing exchange; assistance locating clean and sober housing; transportation; and after care and homelessness prevention services. Leadership of the program also provides administration for the supervised visitation program (see below). The program provides drug testing at the request of the Probation or Parole Departments or when it appears that a resident has violated the drug policy and needs to be tested.

We at Darmstadt Shelter with heavy hearts are sad to share the passing of Kaelyn Rausch. Kaelyn will be deeply missed by all who worked with her and all the residents she has helped throughout the years. Kaelyn was friendly, a hard worker, caring, and went above and beyond to help those in need. Kaelyn made a difference in the lives of all she touched. Darmstadt staff would like to send our deepest condolences to Kaelyn’s family, friends, and loved ones. Kaelyn will forever be missed and remembered. We will always embrace the time we were able to share with Kaelyn and are thankful that we were able to work with such an incredible, generous person. Rest in Peace Kaelyn.

Thank you Jefferson United Methodist Church! This bench was made by Joe Hornbeck thanks to the Jefferson United Women of Faith. We truly appreciate it & know that both Rev. Ralph Darmstadt & Peter Bazzani will continue to be remembered. The bench is beautiful & a great addition to the shelter. ❤️

On April 16, 2024 Darmstadt staff & residents current & past had to say our good byes to one of the best cats out there. Darma choose to stay at Darmstadt Shelter. She never came inside, but you could always find her wondering the property looking for pets and treats. Darma helped many residents and staff through hard times for 17 years. Darma in her own way was a therapy cat, a case manager, a guardian. Darma will be missed dearly & remembered everyday. Sleep in peace Darma! ❤️

UPDATE ❄️ The Cooling Center SCHEDULE is as follows: Tuesday 9/5 from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm, Wednesday 9/6 from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, and Thursday 9/7 from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.

The center is operated by Catholic Charities, is located at the 2nda Iglesia La Mision Church, 80 Elmendorf St, Kingston NY, and can be contacted directly at (845) 481-4549.

Law Enforcement agencies or any other organizations that come in contact with or become aware of any individuals who are in need of shelter can bring them to the cooling center.
