Rinse and repeat. Another day, another school failing to inform district families of their legal rights.

The State needs to end these misinformation campaigns once and for all. A simple update to the current statute to require schools to mention the exemption option anytime they send out immunization information will provide families with true informed consent. It's no secret that Texas is facing a healthcare workforce shortage.

In testimony at Thursday's House Public Health Committee hearing, TFVC OC Kacy urged lawmakers to address healthcare worker vaccine mandates and protect informed consent as part of the solution for recruiting and retaining healthcare workers across Texas.

We commend Conroe ISD for showing other districts just how easy it is to provide families with true informed consent. This high school nurse not only sent a reminder to parents about their student's vaccine exemption expiring but also included a printed copy of the State Vaccination Exemption Affidavit. A well deserved A+ to CISD!

Is your child's exemption expiring soon? Thanks to a law we worked hard to pass last legislative session, you can now download the exemption and print it at home instead of waiting for the state to mail it.

We didn’t think we’d have a second “Wall of Confusion” post in a single year, but here we are. Perhaps two different district employees are at odds about what information should be disseminated to families? The school flier uses manipulative wording, but a recent social media post outlines the exemption option in detail. To provide clarity, yes, all Texas public schools must accept the State Vaccination Exemption Affidavit if a parent chooses to opt out of providing immunization records. Warren ISD
