Brooklyn lives with cerebral palsy caused by a rare condition called Gould Syndrome. She experiences daily seizures, relies on a feeding tube, and works tirelessly through therapy to build strength and independence.

But ask her family what defines her, and they won’t talk about limitations.

They’ll tell you about the little girl who loves speed, boat rides, music, playground swings, and alpine coasters.

They’ll tell you about her proud smile after therapy victories.

And they’ll tell you about the way she’s transformed everyone around her — especially her little sister Blakely, who instinctively steps in as helper, protector, and best friend.

Growing up, Rachel's parents didn't know whether she would live past the age of five. Between her rare autoimmune condition and disability, much of her childhood was spent moving between hospitals, specialists, procedures, and appointments.

"My whole life as a child was hospitals," Rachel said. "I never got to be a 'normal kid.'"

Yet her parents refused to let medical charts define her world.

Andre is heading to middle school!

Andre just finished 6th grade and will be heading to middle school this fall.

"The grant from Chive Charities was incredibly helpful and allowed Andre to double up on his therapy sessions at SCI-FIT. It has really helped alleviate some financial stress on our family, especially during these challenging economic times.
