Amethyst Place

Amethyst Place Supportive housing program for women and children in recovery. Since opening its doors in 2000, Amethyst Place has served over 900 women and children.

After more than two decades of transforming lives and healing generations, we believe our work is more than a mission; it’s a noble cause. We inspire transformational healing and empower generations of women and children to achieve recovery, reunification, and resilience. Each year, we provide nearly 200 women and children in Kansas City with truly comprehensive, family-centered care to help them

overcome the interconnected cycles of poverty, trauma, and substance use to achieve multi-generational impact. Each of our residents is provided with furnished apartment space, therapy, case management, financial assistance, a variety of classes, recovery coaching sessions, and other programs to build up their life skills, self-confidence, and relationship/social skills.

💜 This Is Amethyst Place: Family Reunification

When a mother enters recovery, she's not just working to change her own life; she's working to rebuild relationships, restore trust, and reunite her family.

Many of the families who come to Amethyst Place have experienced separation due to housing instability, substance use, and trauma. Too often, mothers are doing everything asked of them to reunify with their children, but one critical piece is missing: safe, stable housing.

At Amethyst Place, we provide more than a place to live. We provide the support, resources, and time families need to heal together.

The result? In 2025, 92% of children who came to Amethyst Place separated from their mothers were successfully reunited with them. That's more than a statistic; it's children coming home, families rebuilding trust, and futures being rewritten.

Because every family deserves the chance to heal together. 💜

Why does Amethyst Place exist?

Because recovery is a family journey.

Too often, mothers facing substance use disorder, trauma, and housing instability are forced to overcome impossible barriers while trying to reunify with and care for their children. At Amethyst Place, we believe families deserve more than temporary solutions, they deserve the time, support, and stability needed to heal and thrive.

For more than 25 years, Amethyst Place has helped women and children break generational cycles of poverty, substance use, and trauma. Since opening our doors in 2000, we've served more than 437 families, including 851 children, providing safe housing, therapeutic services, and family-centered support.

This month, we're sharing more about who we are, what we do, and why our work matters. Welcome to our "This Is Amethyst Place" series. 💜

Pauline’s story is not just about recovery. It’s about learning to stop surviving and start healing. ❤️

After facing trauma, relapse, incarceration, and starting over, Pauline chose to return to herself, to her daughter, and to the life she wants to build.

Today, she’s embracing a new beginning at Amethyst Place and creating the future she once thought was out of reach.

Her story is honest, powerful, and deeply hopeful — and we’re honored she trusted us to share it.

Every summer, our FAM Team takes Amethyst Place families on a camping trip filled with connection, joy, and memories that last far beyond the weekend. 🏕️💜

For many of our moms and kids, this is a chance to unplug, explore nature, and simply enjoy time together as a family.

We’re inviting our community to help make this year’s trip even more special by purchasing an item from the camping wish list. From outdoor essentials to fun family activities, every item helps create a comfortable, memorable experience for the families we serve.

We’re still filled with joy from our Mother’s Day Brunch on May 9th. It was such a beautiful celebration for the incredible moms at Amethyst Place 💐

Throughout the day, moms enjoyed a relaxing brunch experience filled with creativity, connection, and moments just for them. From building custom bouquets at the Bloom Bar, to creating signature scents at the perfume station, to designing personalized bracelets, every activity was designed to make our moms feel celebrated and cared for.

Thanks to the generosity and support of the Kansas City community, each mom also left with thoughtful gifts and reminders that they are seen, valued, and supported on their journey.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this special day possible for our families. 💜
