The Welcome House is a not-for-profit, sober living, recovery program (incorporated in 1971) with “the sole purpose of educating and rehabilitating the adult male alcoholic/addict” and “the expressed mission of returning the individual to productive society free of alcohol and drug abuse.”

A $1 million Challenge Grant from the Mabee Foundation has brought us one step closer to opening the Welcome House Women Recovery Center - but we need our community to help finish the journey.

By raising an additional $1,856,614 by July 14, 2027, we can unlock this transformational gift and create a safe, 40-bed recovery center where women can heal from drug and alcohol addiction, rebuild their lives, and rediscover hope.

For many people, recovery begins because they get tired of living in survival mode.

Substance use disorder affects people of every age, profession, income level, and background. There is no "type" of person who develops an addiction; and there is no "type" of person who deserves recovery more than another.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to heal.

Together, we can build a new 40-bed facility, officially officially known as the Rick Fleenor Family Recovery Center, in Kansas City, KS, providing women with a safe place to heal through evidence-based treatment, trauma-informed care, housing, peer support, job assistance, and the resources they need for lasting recovery.
