Kansas City has lost a true icon and someone who holds a special place in the heart and history of KC Pride.

Melinda brought joy, laughter, and an unmistakable presence to our city for decades. We were privileged to honor Melinda with the title of Grand Marshal of the 2025 KC Pride Parade, commemorating her 50th year performing alongside the 50th anniversary of KC Pride.

Her legacy lives in the people she inspired, the doors she helped open, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her husband, Kirk, and all of Melinda’s family and friends.

Thank you, Melinda, for being part of our Pride, our history, and our city. Your legacy will live on.

As B**r Kitchen closes its doors today, we want to take a moment to say thank you. For the last couple of years, they’ve generously provided breakfast for our KC Pride Parade volunteers — showing up for our community with warmth, generosity, and genuine support.

Small businesses like B**r Kitchen are the heart of Kansas City, and their kindness made a real difference for the folks who give their time to make Pride possible every year.

Thank you for everything, B**r Kitchen. You’ll be missed. 🏳️‍🌈🍺
