Uncle Maulili Dickson, one of the kālai waʻa that built our first born canoe Mauloa, shares the moʻolelo of how the koa tree that became Mauloa found them—and what Papa Mau said he felt from the tree about being ready to become a waʻa.

Tomorrow makes 33 years since Mauloa’s birth in Hōnaunau. Her existence connects us to the kūpuna that came before us.
