In athletics, you learn to get back up. In research, you learn to try again. For Mallory Gentry ’28 and Simran Magnan ’29, those lessons go hand in hand. 🏊♀️⚽️🧪
The swimmer and soccer player spent their summer in the chemistry lab of Daniela Arias-Rotondo, researching manganese-based compounds that could one day help improve solar-energy technology. And when an experiment doesn’t work as planned? That’s not failure. It’s figuring out what to try next.
“Having student-athletes in the lab is awesome because they know how to fail and recover from failure,” Arias-Rotondo says.
Turns out, resilience is a pretty good research skill. Read the third story in our series on K student-athletes doing summer chemistry research: https://ow.ly/HK8c50ZGfkB. 🧡🖤
