Go, Mrs. Hickman!!

This year, the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Educational Service Agency (KRESA) awarded 10 Educator Incentive Grants. The grants help teachers and administrators explore new ideas to enhance teaching styles and motivate and inspire their students.

Winchell Elementary School music teacher Jeanna Cervantes Hickman received a grant to complete her OAKE Kodály Music Education Certification, the renowned teacher education program in music education pedagogy and in the Kodály teaching model. She expects students will see improvements in their tonal and rhythmic music literacy, and be able to hear rhythmic and tonal patterns, dictate patterns by ear, and read iconic tonal representations. High 5 and congratulations!
