It’s 5 p.m. — know what that means? On-street parking is FREE in Downtown Kalamazoo for the rest of the evening!

The new downtown parking updates are fully in place, including:
✔️ The first 30 minutes FREE at paid on-street spaces
✔️ On-street enforcement ending at 5 p.m.
✔️ Sundays free on the street and in the ramps
✔️ Free first 90 minutes in public parking ramps continues

It’s a great night to head downtown for dinner, drinks, shopping, live music, events, or just a walk around the city. Downtown Kalamazoo is open, active, and ready to welcome you. Come support local!

The new downtown parking updates are officially rolling out, making it easier to stop downtown for shopping, dining, events, coffee runs, and everything in between!! 🎉🎉🎉

Starting today:

-The first 30 minutes at paid on-street parking spaces are FREE through the ParkMobile app and kiosks
-On-street enforcement now ends at 5 p.m. Premium zones are enforced Monday through Saturday, while base zones are enforced weekdays only
-The free first 90 minutes in public parking ramps continues
-Sundays are free on the street and in the ramps

Park Kalamazoo is working quickly to update signage, with installation beginning as early as tomorrow.

Downtown Kalamazoo is ready to welcome you! Come shop, dine, explore, and support local!

Starting today, the first 30 minutes at paid on-street parking spaces are FREE through the ParkMobile app and kiosks. On-street enforcement hours now end at 5 p.m. in all zones. Important update about parking in Downtown Kalamazoo! Some rules are changing over the next few weeks based on feedback from the downtown community, including:

• The first 30 minutes will become free at paid on-street parking spaces
• Expanded time limits from 90 minutes to 3 hours or longer
• Enforcement ending at 5 p.m.
• Continued free first 90 minutes in public parking ramps

Following continued collaboration with downtown businesses, residents, employees, and community partners, Park Kalamazoo is implementing several parking enhancements designed to improve convenience and support downtown activity. Changes being implemented over the next three weeks include:

• The first 30 minutes free at all paid on-street parking spaces through fall 2027
• Expanded on-street time limits, increasing from 90 minutes to 3 hours or longer depending on zone
• On-street parking enforcement hours will end at 5 p.m. in all zones. The premium zone is enforced Monday through Saturday, while the base zone is enforced weekdays only. Sundays are free on the street and in the ramps.
• Free first 90 minutes in public parking ramps will continue

These updates build on the downtown parking changes implemented in April and reflect continued feedback related to customer convenience, evening activity, and short visits downtown.

Festival Friday is back TODAY on S Burdick Street between Lovell and Cedar! Join us for food trucks, music from DJ Monte, family activities, and more from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is always free.

Check out the event map for food truck locations, entrances, and activities. We’ll see you downtown!

🎉 Get ready for the first Festival Friday of the season! The fun kicks off on Friday, May 8th!
We can’t wait to see you there, but before you go, check out this map and these important tips:
📍 Location: We're on S. Burdick Street (between Lovell and Cedar St). Use the entrances on Lovell St. or Cedar St. to join the party! Check the map to plan your route.
🆓 Always FREE: Admission to Festival Friday is completely free.
🌮 Food Truck Info: Food truck purchases can be made with cash or credit card directly at the truck.
🎶 Entertainment: DJ Monte will be spinning tunes from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
🚴‍♀️ Bike to the Festival: If you're biking in, make sure to enter the raffle to win a prize! There's also a prize for the person who bikes the farthest.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Fun: We have games and fun for the whole family!

The City of Kalamazoo, Michigan is sharing a preview of what’s ahead for Michigan Ave! Join us tomorrow at the From Plans to Place Open House to learn more about what’s planned for downtown streets, placemaking, Arcadia Creek Festival Place, and more!

What will Michigan Avenue feel like in the future? Tomorrow, you’ll get a chance to see it for yourself.

Join us at the From Plans to Place Open House to explore a full simulation of what it will be like to experience Michigan Avenue as it becomes part of a people-focused, two-way traffic network.

You’ll get a closer look at key projects shaping downtown, including plans for Arcadia Creek Festival Place and placemaking improvements designed to create more vibrant, welcoming public spaces. You can also get the latest updates on downtown street improvements, see how Michigan Avenue and other corridors will function in the future, and ask questions while sharing your perspective.

Downtown Kalamazoo is evolving, and these changes will create a better experience for everyone who lives, works, and spends time here.
