Congratulations to our amazing 2nd graders for winning this year’s Penny Wars! 🎉👏

As a school, we raised over $2,000 that will go toward our campus beautification project, including updating the picnic tables around campus. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference!

Our 2nd grade champions earned an extra recess and a delicious ice cream party from Culver’s 🍦 What a fun way to end the school year! ☀️

Mark your calendars and join us THIS Saturday, May 23rd at our NEW location — Indian Creek Park! 🌴☀️

Come cool off with popsicles, let the kids play, and connect with other JTES families as we kick off summer together! This is the first of many community meet-ups we’ll be hosting throughout the summer and next school year to help families build friendships and stay connected outside the classroom. 💙🐯

Today’s Penny Wars numbers….counted before the Musical theater club performance of Aristocats. Plot your revenge wisely. Kindergarten brought the big copper energy with nearly 1450 Pennies!!!! 5th grade has been plotting their approach carefully (lets remember they did this the first time in 1st grade). Lots of high score bills for them today. This is truly ANYONES game!

🪙⚔️ PENNY WARS ARE COMING TO JTES! ⚔️🪙

Get ready for a little friendly competition, Tigers! Penny Wars will take place May 18th – May 22nd in the cafè at Jerry Thomas Elementary!

Each grade level will have its own collection jug. The goal? Earn the MOST points by the end of the week!

💥 HOW IT WORKS 💥
✅ Add points to YOUR grade by adding:
• Pennies
• Dollar bills
❌ Subtract points from OTHER grades by adding:
• Nickels
• Dimes
• Quarters

💰 POINT SYSTEM 💰
• Penny = +1 point
• $1 bill = +100 points
• $5 bill = +500 points
• $10 bill = +1,000 points

Silver coins count AGAINST the total:
• Nickel = -5 points
• Dime = -10 points
• Quarter = -25 points

🏆 The winning grade will earn BONUS RECESS and some fun surprises!

We’re so excited to introduce a brand new JTES PTO community event series… Popsicles at the Playground! 🍧🛝

This is the first of MANY casual meetups we plan to host over the summer and throughout next school year to help build community, create connections, and give JTES families a chance to get to know one another outside of school.

Whether you’re a longtime Tiger family, brand new to JTES, or just looking for a fun morning with kids and friends — we’d love to see you there!
