Welcome the Pointer family to Jonesboro!
Jonesboro Public Schools is excited to welcome Kennedy Pointer and Marquise Pointer to the JPS family!
Kennedy Pointer will serve as the Annie Camp Jr. High Volleyball Coach, Assistant Girls Track & Field Coach, and Teacher.
Kennedy has competed and coached at every level and brings elite experience to our student-athletes.
Playing Career – College of Charleston (2015–2019)
• Four-time All-CAA selection
• 2018 AVCA All-American
• Ranks 9th in program history in kills (1,412)
• Ranks 10th in total points (1,593.5) and block assists (253)
• Recorded 300+ kills in three seasons
• 6th-best single-season kills total in program history (459 in 2018)
Recently inducted into the College of Charleston Volleyball Hall of Fame!
After her playing career, Kennedy stayed at the College of Charleston as an assistant coach before teaching and coaching in the Charleston County School District. She coached volleyball for two seasons at Lucy Beckham High School. Most recently, she was named the 2025 SCISA Region 4A Coach of the Year.
Marquise Pointer is returning home to join the sidelines at MacArthur as a coach and teacher.
A former Hurricane standout, Marquise helped lead Jonesboro to the 2014 State Championship (30-3 record) and is the ONLY player in JHS history to play in four state championship games.

• Ranked No. 35 Point Guard in the Nation by ESPN Recruiting
• Played at the College of Charleston
– Played in all 31 games as a freshman (18 starts)
– Averaged 11.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists
– 2nd on team in assists (89)
– CAA All-Rookie Team
– Team Sixth Man & Best Defensive Player
– 2019 NCAA Tournament First Round Appearance
After college, Marquise moved into coaching and most recently served as the Head Coach at Lucy Beckham High School.
