Use of generative AI has been increasing since 2022. KASU reporter Lexie Burns spoke with April Sheppard, the associate dean of A-State’s Dean B Ellis Library. They recently presented their research “Rethinking Digital Literacy Training: Cultivating AI Aware Learners,' in which they highlight how an AI aware learner would utilize in an effective and ethical manner. Earlier this month Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders declared August as Arkansas Breastfeeding month to highlight the importance and long-term health outcomes it has for mothers and children. KASU reporter Lexie Burns spoke with Vivian Okanume, a certified lactation counselor and a University of Arkansas cooperative extension service program associate for the Arkansas High Obesity Program. She explained the significance of proclaiming August as Arkansas Breastfeeding month and how it can help breastfeeding mothers, especially in rural Arkansas. A-State will be holding the tenth annual A-State Leadership Excellence Conference on September 29th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Reng Student Union on the Jonesboro campus. The conference will have keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and workshops aimed at helping people from high school seniors to early retirement develop and improve leadership skills. KASU reporter, Lexie Burns, spoke with Dr. Patricia Johnston, a professor of Business Law and the Executive director of the Center for Excellence at A-State, about this year's conference.
