Rev. Matthew Olson began serving as Interim Dean of the SDB School of Ministry on September 1.

Matt has served Seventh Day Baptists in numerous roles since 1981 and has been pastor of the Berlin, NY, SDB Church since 1992. In this new role, he will help strengthen the student experience and invest in the next generation of SDB leaders through mentorship, pastoral support, recruitment, and ministry connections.

We also recognize Rev. Nick Kersten’s work in establishing the SDB education foundation as Director of Christian Education. Nick is now serving as lead pastor of Milton SDB Church while continuing with the General Conference as Librarian-Historian.

Applications for the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference Media and Communications Internship close August 31, 2026.

This remote, semester-based opportunity is designed for college students and emerging professionals who want to develop skills in social media, video, photography, graphic design, web content, email communication, event promotion, storytelling, and analytics: all while serving the SDB community.

The internship requires approximately 10–15 hours per week. A professional portfolio is not required; creativity, dependability, good judgment, and a willingness to learn matter most. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and members in good standing of a Seventh Day Baptist church.

For 11 years, Ministerio Gracia Sobre Gracia has served as a Spanish-speaking Seventh Day Baptist church plant in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Beginning in 2014 with support from Central SDB, the congregation has grown from meeting in local public schools to becoming a self-sustaining ministry committed to serving its community and sharing the hope of Christ.

The church is now pursuing recognition as an official member church of the Seventh Day Baptist Conference.

Do you know a young adult, ages 18-25, who is engaged in their local Seventh Day Baptist church, growing in their walk with Christ, and showing leadership or leadership potential? Take a few minutes to nominate them.

Emerging Leaders is about helping young adults get connected, equipped, and launched into meaningful service in God’s Kingdom. This year’s retreat will take place October 23-25 at the SDB Center in Janesville, Wisconsin, with a focus on understanding and practically living out our identity in Christ.
