This week, we visited with Mr. Gunter while our team was hard at work building his new ramp.

Lawrence and Ora Gunter, who are so thankful to be receiving a ramp, married right out of high school and are now going on 61 years of marriage. Mr. Gunter served as a police officer for 40 years, and for 22 of those years also simultaneously worked as a welder. Unfortunately, he suffered a degenerated disc and has had to have a total of 7 back surgeries. He tries his best to walk as much as he can, but due to the pain, will eventually be bound to a wheelchair. This reason is why he is so grateful to have this ramp built, referring to it as his "new buddy".

Mr. Gunter's story is one of many that allows us to understand the mission behind what we do at Builders Care. ❤️

We have partnered up with North Florida Home Maintenance Foundation to build a new fence for Mr. Robert!

Mr. Robert had received a notice from the city to have it repaired in 30 days or he would start receiving fines. When he reached out to Builders Care with his dilemma, we knew who to call.

Thank you to the volunteers for your time and hard work in order for this fence to be completed.

We love being able to share stories like Ms. Beth's because they remind us why our mission is so important.

Ms. Beth was originally scheduled in September for a ramp, but we recognized the urgency of her situation and moved her to the top of the list. It all began with the message from Ms. Beth below.

"I was informed to contact you to see if I can get a ramp built for my home I had to have my right foot amputated and I'm on disability income I have to crawl in and out of my house onto the porch and then crawl down the stairs and back up the stairs to be able to go to the doctor anywhere so I was told to give you a call and contact you and see if you were able to help me with getting a ramp built."

Thank you to everyone involved in our journey and we hope to continue to help more people like Ms. Beth.
