Ponte Vedra Beach Rotarians prepared and served an Italian buffet dinner on August 17th for guests at Gabriel House of Care. Rotarians prepared and served homemade lasagna, stuffed shells, chicken Alfredo, and baked spaghetti, along with green beans, garlic bread, and a plethora of desserts.

Located on the Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, Gabriel House provides affordable, temporary lodging for patients and their caregivers who have traveled to the area for cancer treatment or an organ transplant.

For over the past 10 years, Dr. Primrose Cameron, through Cameron Enterprises, LLC, has honored her Grandma Tillie’s spirit of giving and service through community action in St. Mary, Jamaica. From Easter egg hunts for Oracabessa youth (a town in which many of her family members were raised), personal growth seminars, entrepreneurship workshops, and food and clothing distribution.

This year allowed for a student-centered approach to giving to one of the 8th-grade classes at Oracabessa High School. Dr. Primrose Cameron and RYLA youth exchange parent Kimeca Caine met with the students in March 2026 and shared words of encouragement.

Rotarian Primrose Cameron returned in August 2026 to follow up with the assistant principals to discuss possibilities of mentoring throughout the year. With the help of Samara King and various local Volusia County donors, a class of students will be given a new backpack to start off the school year with school supplies to follow.

Building a bridge between Florida and Jamaica, giving is near and dear to Primrose’s heart. For the past three years, she has had the opportunity to attend the Rotary Club of Ocho Rios meeting when visiting.

From the International Space Station to the Vibrant Club Workshop in Orange Park, Florida!

We are excited to welcome retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Marine Corps Colonel George D. Zamka as a guest speaker at our upcoming Rotary District 6970 Vibrant Club Workshop!

Colonel Zamka’s remarkable career has taken him from serving as a Marine Corps pilot to traveling millions of miles in space. Selected for NASA’s astronaut program in 1998, he flew aboard two Space Shuttle missions, first as pilot of STS-120 aboard Discovery in 2007 and later as commander of STS-130 aboard Endeavour in 2010. Across his two missions, he logged more than 692 hours in space and traveled approximately 12 million miles.

Before NASA, Colonel Zamka served as a Marine aviator, including flying 66 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm. His distinguished career has earned him numerous honors, including the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, and two NASA Space Flight Medals.

Now, he’s bringing his incredible experiences and lessons in leadership, teamwork, service, and perseverance to our Rotarians!
