Florida Society of Pathologists The Florida Society of Pathologists (FSP) is the voice for all pathologists working in the frequently intense field of pathological medicine.

FSP not only monitors legislation affecting the ability of physicians to work in our hospital and laboratory environments, but works closely with, and is officially recognized as a state specialty organization of the Florida Medical Association and the College of American Pathologists. FSP consistently produces quality CME medical meetings offering National and International featured speakers and an excellent opportunity for our colleagues to meet formally and informally to discuss the present and anticipate future challenges of our profession. Dr. Werner Idiaquez is Medical Director of the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory at Moffitt Cancer Center and spends his free time practicing aerial silks and circus-style calisthenics.

In the lab and outside of it, Dr. Werner Idiaquez is always ready to go with the flow.

We are now accepting poster submissions for the 2027 FSP Annual Pathology Conference! 🔬

The FSP Poster Hall is a great opportunity to share your research and exchange ideas with colleagues from across the state and beyond.

All pathologists are invited to submit! Top eligible submissions will advance to onsite judging during the conference, with cash prizes of up to $750 for Florida residents and fellows and $300 for medical students.

For Dr. Shweta Agarwal, the most interesting questions in medicine are the ones without obvious answers. Her curiosity about the ‘why’ behind disease helped draw her to pathology.

Today, the FSP member and Mayo Clinic pathologist says finding those answers, and understanding what they can mean for a patient and their family, continues to make her work deeply rewarding.

📢 Florida pathologists, now is an important time to make sure your voice is heard.

Join FSP and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Sept. 8, for a webinar focused on federal and state advocacy and how pathologists can get involved.

Dr. Joe Saad, Chair of the CAP Council on Government and Professional Affairs (CGPA), will provide updates on current and emerging advocacy issues. Of particular importance is the CMS reevaluation of surgical pathology codes, with the public comment period closing Sept. 14.

Following Dr. Saad’s presentation, FSP leadership and participating members will engage in a panel discussion to share perspectives and answer questions.
