Great City Mississippi Foundation was proud to join community organizations, civic leaders, state partners, and supporters for LeFleur’s Bluff: The Next Chapter, a celebration of the continued investment and momentum surrounding LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.

The event highlighted the launch of the LeFleur’s Bluff Conservancy and the vision for future improvements across the park, including expanded recreation, trails, public gathering spaces, accessibility enhancements, public art, and improved connections to the Pearl River and LeFleur Museum District.

Supported by a $13 million legislative appropriation and a growing network of public and private partners, these efforts represent an important investment in one of Jackson’s most significant public spaces.

Great City Mississippi Foundation remains committed to supporting parks, trails, and public spaces that improve quality of life, expand access to the outdoors, and strengthen the capital city for future generations.

Great City Mississippi Foundation continues to invest in the planning and advancement of parks, trails, and public spaces that improve connectivity, expand access, and strengthen quality of life across the capital city.

We’re encouraged to see the formal launch of the LeFleur’s Bluff Conservancy and the continued momentum surrounding the future of LeFleur’s Bluff State Park. Supported through public-private partnership and recent legislative investment, the Conservancy represents an important step toward the stewardship and revitalization of one of Jackson’s most significant public landscapes.

Future improvements will support expanded recreation, enhanced public access, and continued investment in outdoor spaces that serve residents and strengthen the capital city for generations to come.

A strong Jackson supports a stronger Mississippi. Thank you to the State of Mississippi, Governor and our legislative leaders for continuing to prioritize the capital city.

This year’s session included more than $100 million in funding for projects across the Jackson metropolitan area, with investments supporting infrastructure, public spaces, and key institutions. Major allocations include improvements to LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, Jackson State University, and roadway and bridge repairs within the city.

Additional investments support neighborhood-level improvements across Jackson, including parks and public spaces. These are important steps toward strengthening quality of life and expanding opportunity for all.

The Pearl River Flood Control Project is officially moving forward. Today’s announcement marks a major milestone for the City of Jackson, the surrounding metro region, and the State of Mississippi. After decades of recurring flood events along the Pearl River, the approved project is advancing toward implementation with a focus on flood risk reduction and regional resilience.

As a proud member of the Pearl River Revitalization Coalition, Great City Mississippi has advocated for flood control solutions integrating public access, green space, parks, and trail connections along the river corridor. These elements are critical to strengthening quality of life, supporting economic growth, and reconnecting communities to the Pearl River.

Great City recognizes the leadership of the Rankin Hinds Pearl River Flood and Drainage Control District, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and federal partners in Washington, DC for advancing this critical investment in regional safety and resilience.

A strong capital city is essential to a strong state. Investments in infrastructure, public space, and environmental resilience help protect neighborhoods, attract talent and investment, and support long-term prosperity for the entire region. This milestone reflects years of collaboration and sustained commitment to improving quality of life through lasting infrastructure, flood protection, and economic opportunity across the Jackson metro region.

The stewardship of the capital city’s gateways continues.

Thanks to collaboration between the City of Jackson and Great City Mississippi Foundation, the live oaks along Pearl Street, Pascagoula Street, Woodrow Wilson Boulevard and other major roads have received some much needed care to improve visibility, enhance safety, and support a lifetime of healthy growth.

Beautifying and caring for the main entryways into the capital city is a small but impactful way to help Jackson and the state of Mississippi rise.

A Great City for a Great State.

At Great City Mississippi, we believe a healthy, thriving capital city is essential to a stronger Mississippi for all. As we step into 2026, we’re building on a year of progress aligning leadership and investment to move Jackson forward with purpose.

This work shows up across many fronts: advancing Jackson Rising to turn investable ideas into action, launching Clean JXN Gateway Day to restore pride in our gateways, convening leaders through community forums on parks, trails, and STEAM innovation, strengthening a connected regional trail network, and engaging the 2026 legislative session to improve public safety, quality of life, and redevelopment opportunities statewide. We’re grateful for the partners, funders, and residents helping turn shared vision into real change.
