Our Child Care Development Director had such a good time at the TC3 Fall Career Carnival! Thank you to TC3 for putting a great event together.

Look what’s growing at this home child care program!

A provider’s winecap mushroom project has become an outdoor discovery space for the children. From watching the mushrooms appear to noticing their shapes and sizes, the children have a chance to ask questions, use their senses, and see how living things change over time.

This is one of the strengths of home child care: providers can turn an everyday moment outside into a shared learning experience. A little curiosity can grow into a big conversation! 🌿

Join us on the front lawn of Tompkins Cortland Community College by the main entrance (rain location is inside main entrance) on September 29, 11am - 1pm. On Saturday, September 19, child care providers gathered for a marketing training focused on building an online presence while protecting children’s safety on social media and websites.

Providers received Tom Copeland’s Family Child Care Marketing Guide, the outdoor play book Messy Maths, a chart with strategies for helping children recognize and regulate emotions, and play equipment for children who love to move and climb. The training sparked a thoughtful conversation about how to share what makes each program special.

Our next roundtable is Saturday, January 23, 2027, from 9–11 a.m.

Thank you to everyone who attended. Your voice matters, and we hope to see you in January!
