Village Circus is excited to open for CirqueUs’ Stories!
At Village Circus, we believe in the power of circus to help children express themselves physically, emotionally, and creatively. Through workshops and performances, children discover that imagination has no limits and that even the grandest gestures and biggest emotions deserve a place to shine!
This Saturday, join us as we celebrate the magic of storytelling through movement, circus arts, and community. An Ithaca favorite, CirqueUs’ Stories brings folktales and classic literature to life with a thrilling twist, featuring aerialists, jugglers, acrobats, contortionists, clowns, and more!

We have a very Village weekend coming up!! First, we would like to announce that this Saturday October, 17 from 5:45-9 pm The Village at Ithaca is co-sponsoring Central New York Communities for Justice & Associates’ Time to End the School to Prison Pipeline event. This event highlights the stories and experiences of people impacted by the racist, classist criminal legal system with the goal of inspiring young social justice leaders and igniting systemic change. We are honored to be co-sponsors along with INHS , Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures , Sciencenter Civic Ensemble SURJ Tompkins County . The Village will have a Literature Table which will feature testaments and video projects to showcase our Stolen Joy Project. Plus, The Village’s very own youth employee extraordinaire@kalieabr will be performing!! Come join us for a day of arts, community, and hope - you won’t want to miss it!

Last Friday October 2nd, educator extraordinaire Sarah Ostrom partnered with The Village at Ithaca to put on “Unsilencing Systemic Racism”, an event for the entire sophomore class at Ithaca High School . It was an incredible day of learning for all 10th grade students taught by 11th and 12th student educators. Presentations explored the historic roots and current examples of systemic racism, while empowering students to build and rejoice in community. This beautiful, inspiring day culminated in a viewing of The Village’s film Restoring Joy followed by a panel discussion.

As we continue to move through this school year, we encourage everyone to follow the example of our student leaders. Stand up. Call out unjust systems. Reflect on your own identities and privileges. Watch Restoring Joy, and really listen to what our incredible young people have to say.

🎨💜 A Mural Jam moment! Ithaca Murals

Our kids got to walk around, check out some amazing murals, meet artists, AND get their hands dirty with some painting of their own! 🖌️✨

Big thank you to everyone who made MURAL JAM happen and gave our young people a chance to create, explore, and just enjoy being in the community.

At the beginning of September, Village Circus had the pleasure of collaborating with Rebel Arts Movement Center to create and perform a piece for Hupstate Circus . We performed at gallery night, the Hangar Theatre Company , and of course at Ithaca Children's Garden . We loved practicing, performing, and learning with another group of young, talented performers and hope to continue finding ways to combine community with artistry. Did you know the number of homeless youth in Tompkins County tripled between 2021 and 2023? Without intervention, homeless youth become homeless adults, joining the chaos that is our current homelessness crisis locally and nationally.

Supporting Village House is a great way to make an impact on this issue locally, and every dollar and share matters to us.

This week, you have the opportunity to support us in taking a huge step -- achieving ownership of the Village House property, insuring we can provide a safe and supportive space for homeless youth until our community eradicates the problem entirely.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to the TST BOCES Adult Education volunteers who participated in the United Way’s Day of Action project in partnership with Village House. Over the course of three hours, they braved the scorching summer heat to clean the weeds in the yard, trim the bushes, and collect litter around the house, transforming the house into a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing addition to the community.
